Armen Poladian | CROSS STONE PICTURES
Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Armen Poladian is an Armenian-Canadian film director, writer, producer, and actor. He was born on September 7, 1991 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. He started his career as a filmmaker after graduating from the University of Waterloo in 2015. His production company, Cross Stone Pictures, was founded with the intention to tell meaningful stories and create marketable content for diverse audiences.
Short films include: Muffins Mean Yes (2022), Follow Me for Instant Gratification (2020), Streets of the City (2019), Second Hand (2018), The Moment the Lights Dim (2017), Daddy (2016), and The Don (2015). Official film festival selections have sent his work to: the Pomegranate Film Festival in Toronto, the Arpa International Film Festival in Hollywood, the REEL Recovery Film Festival in Los Angeles and New York, the 401 Film Fest in West Warwick, and the Kitchener Waterloo Film Festival in Waterloo.
Music videos include: Pokrig Dzaghig [Little Flower] (2018) and Manoug Me [A Child] (2020), of which the latter was nominated for Best Music Video at the 2020 Arpa International Film Festival.
His first feature film, Love Is in the Water (2023) – about an introverted young man addicted to finding his soulmate on social media – had its world premiere at the Pomegranate Film Festival in Canada and the Arpa International Film Festival in the USA simultaneously on November 19, 2023. It was nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Feature Film at ARPA, and won the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at POM.
